Our First Mission Trip
Our first mission trip was to McVeigh Baptist Church to assist them in the flood in May of 2009. It is amazing how God worked things together for His Glory. I had told my husband, Bryan several weeks earlier, that I felt God leading us to take supplies to Eastern Kentucky. He reminded me, we didn't know anyone there, we didn't have anything to give, and we didn't have the funds to support the trip. Well, I wrestled with God all night and then I waited for Bryan to wake up. I told him, we had to take the trip, no I didn't know what we would be taking, but the one thing I did know was that God would Provide what they needed and what we needed to go. I made one call to a disaster Relief place in Eastern Kentucky. I was dispatched to a fire station which transferred my call to a Local Pastor James Justice which is the Pastor of McVeigh Baptist Church. He proceeded to tell me the items that were needed and then paused before he ask what we would be bringing down. My heart sunk as I didn't want to tell him, we had nothing to bring in the enclosed trailer, but I just knew that my God was going to provide. So instead, I made an excuse to end the conversion. I immediately went to God in Prayer! The next day, I call Pastor Justice and explained to him, we had nothing to offer, but I knew that God was calling us to GO! I then started to cry, and told him, I don't know what we will be bringing, but God does, and He will Provide. He told me bring your Faith & Love, that is enough! The next day, people started showing up where I worked with different items, each story was the same. They just wanted to be apart of something to make a difference. By Thursday, our van & trailer was full and we had to get another truck to haul the items. The friends that God brought us on this trip will forever remain in our minds, hearts & most of all our Prayers! God was stretching our Faith in Him during this time. We had never been on a Mission Trip, never thought of a Mission Trip and actually never been to Eastern Kentucky, except with my grandparents as a young girl. So the shaping & molding He was doing on this trip meant so much more than just the items He provided. He was allowing us to see His Power, His Mercy & His Grace in a way that we had never experienced. We have been questioned, how did you know that God would provide and that He wanted you to go? All I can say is He is GOD, and when He says GO, He will Provide! I pray, I will always hear His call and will always answer, Here I am, send me! I want to say Thank you to our McVeigh Family and I Praise God that He crossed our Paths!
May God continue to Bless you All as you Serve Him!! We Love You All!
